After some time, you will move onto puréed foods and then eventually into semi solid foods. Eating a gastric bypass diet that is progressive in this way while allow you to get used to your new stomach size and will help to keep you from getting sick because of overeating. Because of the altered size of your stomach and digestive track, a gastric bypass diet is necessary to be maintained throughout the rest of your life time. Most of this is simple common sense but there are some things that you should keep in mind in order to make sure that you are as healthy as possible. Remember, your body will not be able to absorb as many nutrients from the food that you eat so you must make sure that you eat the right things in order to keep your body healthy at all times. You should eat small meals throughout the day. Most of you were probably used to eating three main meals and perhaps a snack or two but you are now going to have to eat smaller amounts of food because of your decreased stomach size and you're going to have to do it frequently in order to keep your health up. You should also make sure that when you do eat and drink that you do so slowly and that you chew your food very well before swallowing. It is always a good idea to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day and you should make sure that you are drinking liquids in between meals as drinking with your meal can cause some adverse side effects. Whenever you're trying new foods, make sure that you try them one at a time. There are certain foods that will affect you differently now that you have a different digestive tract. Discovering the ones that adversely affect you will necessitate your eating only one new food at a time so that you can tell the difference. Make sure that you chew any new food very well and take your time eating in case there is a severe reaction to what you're eating.
